Understand a number
What counts in miles driven?
Every odometer you log. Miles driven is one figure everywhere: from a car’s first odometer reading to its latest, counting the odometer of every fill-up, charging session, maintenance visit, odometer reading, trip and expense.
Miles driven
The miles driven on the Dash, the Garage, Stats, Compare, the Passbook and the PDF reports are that one number, the starting odometer counted too when it’s set. Over a range, it’s the miles the readings show inside it.
A year at your pace
A year at your pace (History’s Miles, Stats → Mileage) adds up each car’s own pace from its odometer readings. A car sold or handed back adds nothing. A car with no pace yet, its readings under two weeks apart, or one that hasn’t moved between its readings, is left out and named under the figures.
Fuel economy is different
Fuel economy is different: MPG stays on the measured tanks (the full-tank method, full fill-up to full fill-up), and cost per mile on the fill-ups’ miles.
A reading that breaks the date order is taken for a typo, and a newest one further past the one before than a car can drive is left out until you correct it or say it’s right (History asks “Something mistyped?”).
