Where and when you charge

Where you charge is free, in Stats → Charging; when you charge is in Habits.

Where, and when

Stats → Charging splits your charging into home, work, public and DC fast (any fast charger away from home), with what a kWh cost at each. It shows them month by month too, in kWh or money; a home total for a month is spread over its days.

When you charge is in Stats → Habits (Plus), under Charging habits: the part of the day, the hour and the weekday, sessions at the hour they started, kWh across the minutes they charged.

A home total has no time of day, so it’s left out, and the card says how much.

Your home rates

With time-of-use periods in your home rate, Your home rates (in Charging habits) shows how your home kWh fell across them and what that saved (or cost) against your standard rate, at your rate’s prices.

Only home sessions with a time count; one without the minutes charging counts at the time it started, so if your car waits for a cheaper rate, log the minutes or the time it began charging.

The chart shades each period at the hours it covers on most of the days you charged at home.

Charging in Trends

Stats → Trends (Plus) compares charging too, apart from fuel, against the stretch before and the same weeks a year earlier:

  • The electric cars’ mi/kWh and cost per mile, from the stretches between odometer readings that ended in the period.
  • The distance (≈ past a car’s last reading, at its own pace).
  • Charging per week, and the price per kWh.

It ends on the last day your home totals reach, so a month not logged yet doesn’t read as charging less.

A plug-in hybrid’s charging counts in the money and kWh; its mi/kWh there comes from its own split of gas and electricity over the tanks that closed, not from the charger.
