Set up a vehicle
My vehicle isn’t in the list
The EPA rates the cars and light trucks sold in the US, from 1984 on. Heavy-duty pickups, work vans, motorcycles and models sold only elsewhere aren’t in it: type yours in, with a target of your own or none.
What the EPA rates
The EPA’s list (fueleconomy.gov, from 1984 on) has the cars and light trucks it rates. Over 8,500 lb gross weight it rates only SUVs, passenger vans and pickups with a bed under 6 ft, from 2011 and up to 10,000 lb.
So heavy-duty pickups (a Ram 2500 or 3500, a Ford F-250 and up, a Silverado or Sierra 2500HD) and work vans that heavy aren’t in it, nor chassis cabs and bigger trucks, motorcycles, models sold only outside the US, or years before 1984. Canada’s ratings (NRCan, built into the app) leave out the same heavy-duty pickups.
Look up by VIN says so when NHTSA’s weight class puts a truck over the line; for a pickup, that it may not be there, since a short-bed one can be rated (the 2024 Hummer EV pickup is): then pick it from the list.
Logging one
To log one, type its year, make and model in Garage → Add vehicle (Look up by VIN fills them in, and the powertrain from its fuel), with a target of your own or none.
Its MPG is measured from your fill-ups as any car’s is; a diesel’s DEF goes on its fill-up and stays out of the MPG.
