Set up a vehicle

Try it with sample data

It loads a made-up demo garage (a hybrid sedan, an electric car and a diesel pickup, with a year of made-up entries around Austin, Texas) to look around Stats, History, the Passbook and the Dash before logging anything. Remove clears it in one tap.

Where it is

Try it with sample data loads a made-up demo garage to look around first; Remove on the Dash’s banner clears it. It’s under Add vehicle on the empty Dash, and in Settings → Data while the garage is empty.

While it’s loaded

Every feature shows as open, and a banner on the Dash and a line on the Garage say the sample is loaded, each with Remove: its vehicles and everything logged for them go, your settings stay.

Adding your own vehicle or entry first offers to remove it: Remove the sample and continue, or Keep looking around (from an entry, Remove the sample and add your vehicle opens the vehicle form). An import or a restore asks to as well, so your log never mixes with the demo.

Record a trip doesn’t start while it’s loaded: it offers Remove first.

An export or a backup isn’t made while it’s loaded: the demo never goes into a backup or a CSV.

It stays on your phone

The sample is never backed up, exported, sent to NHTSA for recalls, or used for the automatic region, the welcomes or reminders. The Passbook’s stamps and achievements come from the log, so removing the sample clears them.
