Safety recalls
Free, and automatic for every vehicle you still own. Once a week each one’s year, make and model are checked against NHTSA’s recalls, and a new one shows on the Dash.
Once a week
Once a week, when the app opens (and at once for a vehicle just added or changed), each vehicle’s year, make and model are checked against NHTSA’s safety recalls (the U.S. Department of Transportation’s, for vehicles sold in the U.S.; never the VIN).
A new one shows on the Dash; each vehicle’s card in the Garage says how many are open, or that NHTSA lists none under its name (it may name the model differently).
For a car typed in rather than picked from the EPA list, the card says they’re US recalls: with no region chosen, set yours in Settings → Region if you drive in Europe, Oceania or Asia.
Is yours included?
A recall can cover only some cars of a model: its screen links to nhtsa.gov, where your VIN says whether yours is included and still needs the repair. Mark done once it’s fixed, or if it isn’t your car’s; a backup keeps what you marked.
A car sold in Canada or Mexico can have recalls of its own (Transport Canada’s aren’t looked up): ask a dealer with your VIN too.
