Maintenance, costs and papers
After an accident
+ → Accident or incident: a guide, step by step, that saves as you go, with a report for your insurer. Free at every level.
The steps
1. Safety first: if anyone’s hurt or a car can’t be moved safely, call for help. Where MileWorks knows the number for your region (911 in North America, 112 in Europe, 999 in the UK, 000 in Australia, 111 in New Zealand, Japan’s and Korea’s), a button opens the phone with it.
2. The police: when they come, their report number.
3. Photos, shot by shot: your damage, the other car’s, the whole scene, their plate, their insurance card and license, the road and your odometer.
4. The other driver: names, phones, insurance and plates (stick to the facts; don’t argue about fault). Your own policy from Documents & renewals shows there, to show them.
5. Witnesses, if anyone saw it. 6. What happened: the kind, when and where, what’s damaged, in your words. 7. Your insurer: the claim number.
The report and after
Share the report makes a PDF of it all with the photos, for your insurer or a body shop. With many photos it can be large.
It shows in History under All and on the car’s Condition page, its claim open until you mark it closed. Log the repair adds the body shop’s visit as maintenance.
Everything stays on your phone. A backup keeps the details, not the photos.
