Maintenance, costs and papers
Read an invoice with the camera
At the top of a maintenance visit or an expense, Read the invoice reads the shop, the date, the odometer and each line with its cost. Untick a line to leave it out; nothing goes in until Use these numbers.
Read the invoice
At the top of a maintenance visit or an expense, Read the invoice: scan it with the camera, or pick a photo of it. With the whole page in the frame, it takes the photo once the lines add up to the total two reads running (or tap the round button).
You see:
- The shop, the date, and the odometer (“Mileage in”, “Odometer” or “Km”, never the next service’s, and only when it isn’t below your last reading nor further past it than the car could have gone).
- Each line with what it cost (parts and labor apart where the invoice has those columns) and the kind of work its words name (oil change, tire rotation, brakes, filters, wipers, battery, alignment, fluids, spark plugs, inspection, tires…).
- The shop fees and tax (not a total before tax, “Total ex VAT” or “Total HT”, nor a tax the prices already include), and a discount taken off the lines above it.
- The total, and whether the lines add up to it.
Use these numbers
Untick a line to leave it out. Use these numbers puts each kind of work in as an item with its cost:
- Lines of the same kind added up.
- One at no charge as Free, or Warranty when its lines say so.
- One whose words name none as Other, its words the title.
It puts the fees and tax in as Tax & shop fees, the shop, and the odometer when it’s blank. The date goes in only on a new entry, and on a new entry where the photo was taken (as an address, shown on the card first). An expense takes the total.
The photo stays with the receipts; a PDF is attached, not read. It’s read on your phone, and nothing of it leaves (only the spot goes to your phone’s maps service, for the place’s address).
