Paid in another currency
Paid in another currency on a trip? Choose it under Paid in: the amount is converted at that day’s rate, and the time zone follows the place (on a new entry, your phone’s where it’s one of the place’s).
Currencies
A new entry starts in the currency of where it was: its place as its flag reads it (by a border its address decides), else its address’s, else the time zone’s at its spot.
Amounts are kept as paid and converted into your currency at that day’s European Central Bank rate.
A currency fixed by law to one the ECB publishes (the CFP franc to the euro, the East Caribbean dollar to the US dollar) converts at its fixed rate over that one’s, on any day.
Another the ECB doesn’t publish (the Fijian dollar, the Tongan paʻanga, the vatu) converts at that day’s rate from currency-api. Currency-api has them from March 2, 2024 (before that, enter your bank’s rate on the entry).
Offline, an amount uses the latest rate known until that day’s is found (with none known yet, it’s left out of totals until then). Change your currency any time (Settings → Region → Currency): every amount is shown again at its own day’s rate.
